About the book

Sir Reginald Crumble has been found face-down in his own fruitcake. Solve one puzzle a day from December 1 to Christmas Eve, unlock the evidence, and name the killer, the weapon and the room.

The roads are snowed shut, the will says no one leaves before Christmas Eve, and the family must complete all 24 of Sir Reginald's ridiculous Advent traditions. The village's only policeman keeps arresting the cat.

Each day you read a short scene, solve the day's puzzle to reveal an answer word, and use it to open the Evidence Locker. A right answer unlocks a new piece of evidence; a wrong one may bring Constable Sprout instead. Cross off suspects, weapons and rooms on your Case Board until only one solution is left, then make your accusation on Christmas Eve.

Who it’s for

Adults, teens and families, ages 12 and up: fans of logic puzzles, escape rooms and cosy whodunits who would rather have clues than chocolate in their Advent calendar. Most days take 15 to 25 minutes.

  • Every puzzle computer-checked to have exactly one answer
  • A gentle hint and a stronger hint for every day, with full solutions at the back

Questions about Murder at Crumble Hall

Is it one story or 24 separate mysteries?

One story. Every day's evidence feeds into the final accusation on Christmas Eve.

Can I start after December 1?

Yes. Do two puzzles a day until you catch up.

Is it scary?

No. There is no blood and no horror; the mystery is cosy and the humour is dry. Sir Reginald is found in a fruitcake.

How hard are the puzzles?

They start gently and get trickier toward Christmas. If you get stuck, each day has two hints, and full solutions are at the back.
