3D Spatial Reasoning Puzzle Book PDF: Free Sample
6 draw-it puzzles and 6 test-style questions, with answers. Print it and grab a pencil.
What is in the free PDF
- A one-page guide to reading top, front and left side views, with a worked example and the rule "hidden means solid".
- 6 draw-it puzzles from Easy to Hard: rebuild the solid from its three views and sketch it on the isometric dot paper beside each one.
- 6 quick questions in the four styles used in spatial reasoning tests: which view, which solid, missing view and find the mistake.
- Answers for everything, with each solid drawn in 3D and a one-line reason for every quick question.
Every puzzle is checked by computer to have exactly one answer, the same way the puzzles in THINK IN 3D are checked. New to the views? Read how to read orthographic views first.
Who it is for
Anyone who wants to try 3D spatial reasoning on paper: puzzle fans, students starting technical drawing or CAD, people practising for the spatial sections of aptitude tests, and teachers looking for a printable warm-up. The online version gives you a new test every day, if you would rather not print.
Questions about the free PDF
Is the whole THINK IN 3D book available as a PDF?
No. THINK IN 3D is a paperback. This free PDF is a separate sample of the same kind of puzzle, made for this site, so you can try the format before you buy.
Are the answers included?
Yes. The last pages show every solid drawn in 3D with its cube count, and the letter and reason for each quick question.
Can I print copies for my class or group?
Yes, for personal and classroom use. Please link to this page rather than uploading the file somewhere else, so people always get the current version.
What level are the puzzles?
They climb from Easy (a 3 × 3 footprint, up to 2 cubes high) to Hard (4 × 4, up to 3 high), so beginners can start and experienced solvers still have something to think about.
What do I need?
A printer, a pencil and an eraser. The draw-it pages include isometric dot paper for sketching your answer.
